It is not true that our job is only writing some articles
(with our lack skills of writing), and stick it on the board, but hey we are
doing something more than that. If you have been reading, or at least pass by,
Rephrase for the last two semesters, you may see that every edition has
different theme. Just like Ms. Isti Gandana says, “Everything is value-laden”
and that is how Rephrase’s themes were decided for each edition. There are
subtle meanings, from the colors of the background, the topic for Shady Issues,
and even Artgram. So, in case you had never noticed it, in which I believe no
one ever pays attention, let’s take a look at a quick flashback of Rephrase’s
themes, and what we are actually
trying to tell all of you.
1.
Color Block – March Edition
Playing
with colors is always fun, and that was how we want to start the new era of
ESA’s new era. That was also the time of the year where everybody started
paying attention to their Instagram feed’s aesthetic. So, we combined those
things, and voila that was our best and most praised theme and edition. The
beginning of something is always fun nevertheless.
2.
Sky Means Freedom (?) – April Edition
Take
a rest from all those neon colors from before, we believe that blue, as the
warmest color, would be best to calm down the hype. In this phase, reflecting to
the blue sky above, we wanted to show you that actually even the sky has
limits, and so is what we call as freedom.
3.
All That Glitters – May Edition
Back
at it again with the sparkly and flashy thing, as English Students requested. Just
like a roller coaster, once we went down, we were ready to launch again, and
that is just how life goes on. It is true that we could not meet up the
expectation, yet we pulled off some kind of modern art gallery vibes for the
background, but again no one realized.
4.
Pastel Play – September Edition
Rose
Quartz and Serenity: Pantone Color of the Year. The society needs to conform,
for many things (yes, that one thing that seems to shock everyone), and yet
many things in the future. Pastel colors could symbolize the needs for that
conformity.
5.
Autumnal Season – October Edition
UPI is getting windier than ever. Even though autumn only
happens in some countries, let’s just say that it is equivalent with rainy
season in Indonesia. Because the theme of Halloween is already recycled every
season, and after all we don’t have that in Indonesia, so why all the fuss?
Let’s pay more attention to our cultural surroundings, which are numerous.
6.
Gray, Just Like 2016 – October Edition
The
end is near. Literally and metaphorically. 2016 is going to end, with many
tragedies happened, local and international (and two of it is Harambe and the
current POTUS). To sum up those things, we chose to visualise everything with
gray, just like a smoke. But, let’s just hope that the smoke clears fast.
7.
Fireworks Festive – December Edition
Holiday, holiday, holiday! That is what on our minds at
this last month of the year. December may means final exam, but the festive of
new year and holiday is waiting ahead us. What more can I say? Holiday is the
best, just let’s hope SINO won’t ruin that.
Everything exists for a reason, and so is Rephrase. Open
your eyes and mind more, and see wonderful things in life, but also be careful
because some things were not meant to be looked at. Thank you for reading until
the very end J
