Languages

It is such a shame. I've been an English Literature student for 5 semesters and I can feel that my skill for my nation's first language, which is Bahasa Indonesia, has been decreasing ever since. I even got a certificate from a Japanese class (only N1 though, not exactly something to be proud of), and somehow I'm getting more fluent in Korean rather than Japanese (thanks to the daily songs, dramas, movies, reality shows, and even games). Ha. I even, naively, learned basic Italian and Spanish through Duolingo. The fact that I live in another city, Bandung, where the people still use their traditional language (Sundanese) on a daily basis, doesn't help me. Because I've surrounded myself with the people who prefer to speak in Bahasa Indonesia rather than Sundanese. I believe that this has something to do with the effect of post-colonialism that I learned last semester, but ah it's holiday, maybe I'm going to talk about it later. B y e.
