Do Indonesian College Students Think Formal Sex Education in Indonesia is Adequate?
The two
relevant pie charts revealed the quality of proper sex education in Indonesia
from the perspective of College Students. It is represented on the
graphs that the whole majority agreed that formal
sex education in this country is still not sufficient, and the fact that casual
communities are playing more important role in educating sex.
It is a fact, that Indonesian students are still not satisfied
with this country’s formal sex education. From
40 out of 40, every students are having a solid agreement about the lack of sex
knowledge given by formal institutions. Undoubtedly, this unanimous chart shows
that Indonesia’s sex education is yet to give satistfying guidance.
The majority
of scholars agreed that informal areas give more needed knowledge about sex,
which shows relevancy to the full agreement of the first chart. Even
though, everyone agreed that Indonesia still not having adequate formal sex
education, apparently from 40 person there are eight individuals who believed
that formal communities are the one that give the most useful and clear
education about sex. But still, this is a minor case compared to the 32 persons
who picked informal circles as the communities who taught them more useful sex knowledge.
The
charts indicate that Indonesia still doesn’t paying much attention for one of
important life’s aspects, and the fact that sex education in Indonesia is yet
succeeded in making the students understand sex wholly and clearly. This is resulting
to the students’ efforts for collecting the knowledge about sex in informal circles,
whereas it should be provided by formal and qualified sources.
*I wrote this report by looking at the fact that sex is taboo in Indonesia, and how that taboo-ness only hinders the progress to comprehend the concept of sex needed by the society, what a shame.
